I grew up beside the rugged coastline rimming the island of Newfoundland, Canada. I came by my fondness for fiber, stitching and brilliant colors honestly: They were clearly genes passed down from my mother and practical defenses against those cold, North Atlantic fogs.

My art quilts employ traditional piecing, quilting and embroidery to create original, abstracted images of subjects that inspire me. I am especially fascinated with man-made environments: the human spirit and creativity infused into city blocks, the overlooked beauty in decaying buildings, the plants and wildlife that reclaim urban turf, the simultaneous revulsion and fascination that many of us feel towards industrial complexes, and the dynamic green building movement that shows us how to live more lightly on the Earth.
